Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Lawyer Quits Sex Trafficking Case: “I Can No Longer Continue”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Lawyer Quits High-Profile Sex Trafficking Case

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ has suffered a major legal blow as his defence lawyer, Anthony Ricco, has officially withdrawn from his high-profile sex trafficking case. In his resignation statement, Ricco said, “Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.” He cited reasons protected by attorney-client privilege, keeping the exact cause undisclosed.

Anthony Ricco has requested to be removed from Bad Boy Records’ legal defence team, filing a motion on Thursday without offering any explanation.

His exit is not immediate, as a judge must first review and approve the request, ensuring there is valid justification before it can be finalised.

Despite Ricco’s departure, Combs is still represented by five other lawyers.

However, the timing of his exit—just months before trial—raises questions about possible complications in the defence strategy. Legal experts note that such a sudden withdrawal is unusual and may signal internal issues.

Combs, 54, has been in custody without bail since his arrest in September 2024. He is facing serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. If convicted, he faces a minimum sentence of 15 years to life in prison. He has denied all allegations, pleading not guilty.

His trial is scheduled to begin on 5 May 2025. Ricco’s withdrawal could disrupt the defence team’s preparations, forcing them to adjust their legal strategy at a critical stage. Losing a key lawyer so close to trial is a significant challenge, especially in a case of this magnitude.

Combs, once one of the biggest names in music, has seen his career and reputation collapse under mounting legal troubles. Once celebrated for his influence in the entertainment industry, he is now fighting to clear his name in court.

With Ricco’s departure adding further uncertainty, all eyes are on how Combs’ remaining legal team will proceed in the lead-up to the trial. The case continues to attract widespread attention, with many anticipating new developments in the coming months.
