Las Vegas Hotel Room Murder: Two Women Sentenced To At Least 10 Years

Two women, Erika Covington, 21, and Arionna Taylor, 22, have been sentenced to 10-25 years in prison for their involvement in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Bryan Altamirano-Solano inside a hotel room at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

The tragic incident occurred in May 2023 when Covington and Taylor lured Altamirano-Solano under the guise of a consensual encounter. The situation turned deadly when a firearm discharged, striking Altamirano-Solano in the chest. Surveillance footage revealed the three entering the hotel room, with Covington and Taylor fleeing shortly after, taking the victim’s bag.

Explicit videos found on the victim’s phone confirmed his interactions with the women. However, the individual responsible for firing the fatal shot remains unidentified. Altamirano-Solano, an asylum seeker from Nicaragua who did not speak English, was found deceased at the scene.

Authorities initially connected Covington and Taylor to the murder by matching surveillance footage with their social media posts. The two women, who are cousins, became linked when Taylor tagged Covington in an Instagram post. The post featured the cousins wearing the same outfits seen in the surveillance footage.

When questioned, Covington claimed they met Altamirano-Solano at the hotel valet but didn’t communicate due to a language barrier. Taylor, on the other hand, alleged memory loss from a car accident and stated she couldn’t recall the events of that night. However, investigators uncovered surveillance footage of the two women fleeing the scene and later entering a stolen car.

Another crucial discovery was the bag Altamirano-Solano was carrying, which appeared in footage of the women running away after leaving his hotel room. Investigators learned that another woman, uninvolved in the crime, had booked the hotel room. She revealed she had met Altamirano-Solano through a texting app a week earlier and had left before he encountered the cousins.

Altamirano-Solano, a Nicaraguan asylum seeker, tragically lost his life in what began as a meeting in a Las Vegas hotel room and ended in a brutal murder.

In November 2024, both Covington and Taylor pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon. During their sentencing, Covington expressed remorse, offering condolences to Altamirano-Solano’s family. Meanwhile, his grieving parents, Nelly and Victor, shared emotional statements about the profound loss of their son.
