Jacksonville Police Accidentally Shoot Man During Traffic Stop

 

Jacksonville police are under scrutiny after an officer accidentally shot a man during a routine traffic stop. A Florida police officer has been dismissed after accidentally shooting a driver with his own firearm during a traffic stop.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released body camera footage of the incident that happened last month. Jason Arrington was pulled over on December 13th for allegedly running a red light. While the officer was speaking to the driver, the driver stated he had a gun.

Officer Mindy Cardwell accidentally applied pressure to the trigger of Mr. Arrington’s legally owned Glock .45 while removing it from his holster, causing the firearm to discharge and a bullet to strike his right leg,

The injured man was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, his injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
