Two teenagers from the Dominican Republic were found dead in the wheel well of a JetBlue plane that landed in the United States earlier this week. The tragic discovery was made at Boston Logan International Airport on Monday morning after JetBlue flight 810 had arrived from Santiago, Dominican Republic. Officials believe the pair attempted to stow away in the aircraft’s undercarriage but succumbed to extreme conditions during the journey.

According to reports, the bodies were found when ground crew carried out routine checks on the Airbus A320 after landing. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene, but both individuals were pronounced dead.

Local authorities and officials from the Dominican Republic have since identified the victims as two teenage boys. The exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but experts say the freezing temperatures and lack of oxygen at high altitudes make survival in a plane’s wheel well virtually impossible.

The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and pledged to work closely with US officials during the investigation. They also urged citizens to avoid dangerous and illegal attempts to enter other countries.

JetBlue has stated it is fully cooperating with authorities and assisting with the investigation. In a statement, the airline extended its condolences to the families of the deceased and reiterated its commitment to safety.

Cases of stowaways hiding in aircraft wheel wells are rare but often fatal. Experts warn that extreme cold, low oxygen levels, and the risk of falling from the aircraft make such attempts highly dangerous.

Investigators are now working to determine how the teenagers managed to breach airport security in Santiago and whether any other individuals were involved in their attempt to reach the United States.
