Man 22 Arrested After 8 yr Old Girl Shot In Car
A 22-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder following a double shooting incident targeting a car, resulting in serious injuries to an eight-year-old girl and her father. The shooting occurred on Southern Row in Ladbroke Grove around 17:30 GMT on Sunday. Both victims were rushed to the hospital and are currently in serious but stable condition, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The girl is undergoing surgery due to “serious gunshot injuries,” while her 34-year-old father has sustained potentially life-altering injuries. Fortunately, her two-year-old sibling and their 32-year-old mother, who were also in the car, were unharmed, as reported by Superintendent Owen Renowden. He expressed gratitude to the members of the public who assisted the injured victims and emphasized the swift progress of the investigation, urging anyone with information, no matter how minor, to come forward.
An eyewitness, visiting her mother in the vicinity, recounted seeing a man firing “multiple times” into the car. She described the shooter as being at close range, akin to standing next to a door, and expressed her shock and fear, which led her to retreat back inside. She also mentioned hearing screams and witnessing people rushing to alert the police.
The eyewitness noted an increase in safety concerns in the area over recent years. Powell echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the community’s rightful concerns following recent incidents and stressing the importance of collective efforts to prevent such crimes and ensure accountability.
