EuroMillions Winner Adrian Bayford Plans Innovative Theme Park on Country Estate

Adrian Bayford, a EuroMillions winner who claimed a £148 million jackpot in 2012, has announced ambitious plans to convert part of his extensive country estate into a children’s theme park.

This development comes shortly after Bayford planted a vineyard on his property, which spans the border of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

Transforming the Estate

Bayford aims to turn 20 acres of his Grade II-listed Horseheath Lodge estate into a “leisure destination” that combines fun, education, and sustainability. The proposed theme park will feature an array of attractions, including a train ride, a renewable energy-themed play barn, and a maze. Planning documents describe the project as a “highly regarded and well-known leisure destination” designed to provide an engaging and educational experience for families.

Key Features of the Theme Park
  • Play Barn and Education Centre: The estate will house a play barn and educational facilities focusing on renewable energy, complete with interactive exhibits such as a mini biomass boiler and classrooms.
  • Outdoor Play Zones: Five distinct play areas will offer sensory trails, den building, and animal encounters. The Skylark Discovery Trail will include bird and insect sculptures, while a water-centric play area will feature an interactive water tower and pond-dipping opportunities.
  • Unique Attractions: The park will boast a horse sculpture play area with living structures and a horse chestnut-themed play tower. Children can also ride the electric Horseheath Train through scenic landscapes, complete with tunnels and bridges.

Inspiration and Vision

Bayford’s vision draws inspiration from local attractions like Ben’s Yard and Pensthorpe Natural Park. The development aims to enhance social value, health, and wellbeing by using sustainably sourced materials throughout the estate.

A planning statement submitted to South Cambridgeshire District Council by Strutt & Parker highlights the project’s commitment to creating a leisure destination that is both fun and educational. With a focus on sustainability and innovative outdoor experiences, Bayford’s theme park is set to become a landmark attraction.
