Diogo Jota Dies Aged 28 in Car Crash Tragedy

 

 

Liverpool and Portugal footballer Diogo Jota has tragically died at the age of 28 following a car crash in Spain. The incident occurred just after midnight on July 3, 2025, on the A-52 motorway near Zamora. Jota was travelling with his brother, André, when their vehicle reportedly suffered a tyre blowout and veered off the road before catching fire. Both men died at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services.

The news has shocked the football community and fans worldwide. Jota had recently married his long-time partner Rute Cardoso just 11 days prior to the accident. The couple had three young children, making the tragedy all the more devastating.

Jota began his career in Portugal before making his name with Wolverhampton Wanderers and eventually joining Liverpool in 2020.
