Diddy Found Guilty on 2 Charges, Faces Up to 20 Years
Sean “Diddy” Combs has been found guilty on two federal charges related to prostitution following a high-profile trial in New York. The verdict was delivered by a Manhattan jury after a seven-week trial that included testimonies from multiple women, including ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
Diddy was convicted on two counts of violating the Mann Act, which prohibits the transportation of individuals across state lines for the purpose of prostitution. These charges stemmed from accusations that Combs arranged travel and accommodations for two women to engage in sexual activities for payment.
However, the jury acquitted the music mogul of the three most serious charges: racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking. These counts carried the potential for a much longer prison sentence and would have marked a more damning verdict in the eyes of the law.
Each of the prostitution-related convictions carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison, meaning Combs could face a maximum of 20 years. Legal experts suggest that given the non-violent nature of the charges, he may receive a lighter sentence—possibly even time served.
Combs, 55, remains in federal custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while his legal team prepares for sentencing. His lawyers are expected to file a motion for bail, arguing that he poses no flight risk and should be released while awaiting his final sentence.
The trial has captured national attention, drawing widespread media coverage due to Diddy’s high-profile status in the entertainment world. The case has also sparked broader conversations about accountability and abuse within the music industry.
No sentencing date has been set, but federal prosecutors have indicated they will pursue the maximum penalty. Meanwhile, Combs’ legal team is expected to appeal the convictions.
While Diddy avoided the more severe trafficking charges, the verdict marks a significant legal and reputational blow to the once-celebrated hip-hop mogul.
