Raj Kumar underwent the extensive 12-hour procedure on January 19th at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, India. Skilled medical professionals meticulously reattached nerves, veins, muscles, and skin to the newly acquired arms, generously donated by Meena Mehta, a respected headteacher from south Delhi who had been declared brain dead.
Mr. Kumar’s limbs were severed in a harrowing train accident while he was cycling, resulting in a loss of control. Prior to the surgery, he had been reliant on prosthetic arms for daily functioning.
The intricate operation was led by Dr. Mahesh Mangal, renowned for his expertise in plastic and cosmetic surgery at the hospital. This successful procedure offers hope and a new lease on life for Mr. Kumar, marking a significant milestone in the field of medical science.
